Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the BBC headquarters in London this weekend, accusing the broadcaster of biased reporting and silence over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The demonstration, organized by pro-Palestinian advocacy groups and human rights activists, denounced the BBC as “Israel’s sponsored media,” claiming the broadcaster has turned a blind eye to what they describe as a massacre of civilians in Gaza.
Chants such as “BBC, shame on you!” and “Stop spreading Islamophobia!” echoed through the streets as demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and held signs reading “Journalism, not propaganda” and “Silence is complicity.”
“The BBC has always leaned into Islamophobic narratives,” said one protester. “Now, as Gaza is under fire, they refuse to report the truth. They’re painting Palestinians as terrorists while ignoring the bloodshed.”
Tensions escalated when several protesters attempted a peaceful sit-in inside the BBC building. Footage circulating on social media shows police forcibly removing demonstrators, sparking further outrage.
Activists accused the BBC of abandoning its journalistic duty to remain impartial, claiming its coverage favors the Israeli narrative and minimizes Palestinian suffering.
“The BBC is holding a funeral for journalistic integrity. Their silence is deafening. Their hands are stained with the blood of Gaza’s children,” said another demonstrator during the protest.
The protest is part of a growing global backlash against Western media’s perceived bias in covering the Israel-Gaza conflict, with similar demonstrations erupting in other cities including New York, Paris, and Toronto.
As criticism mounts, BBC has yet to issue a formal response addressing the accusations of bias in its reporting.
