Spain Worst Affected in Europe’s Largest Blackouts

A large-scale power outage across Spain, Portugal, and parts of France stranded hundreds of travellers at Barcelona’s Sants railway station. With commuter rail services suspended and high-speed trains severely delayed, volunteers provided snacks and water to stranded passengers.

The blackout—one of the worst in Europe’s modern history—disrupted transport, retail, and internet access. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez declared a state of emergency, confirming that 99.95% of power has since been restored.
