Dozens of French farmers staged an unusual protest inside an E.Leclerc supermarket in Carcassonne, removing non-French agricultural products from store shelves. The demonstration was aimed at opposing the proposed EU–Mercosur trade agreement, which farmers say would unfairly disadvantage French agriculture. Protesters argue that European farmers face strict administrative and environmental regulations, while imported products from Mercosur countries could be produced using pesticides banned in the EU. The protest comes as the European Union once again postponed signing the agreement, which would still require approval by the European Parliament even if finalised.
