Johannesburg Mosques Provide Free Meals to Combat Hunger During Ramadan Dozens of locals lined up for free meals at Imam Ahmed Raza Jaame Masjid on Sunday as mosques and community groups across Johannesburg mobilized to support the city’s most vulnerable.
In Lenasia South, where unemployment stands at 35% and food prices continue to rise, volunteers are preparing and distributing hot meals, including Haleem, chicken akni, and biryani, to hundreds daily throughout Ramadan. “This facility caters to thousands, regardless of faith,” a local shared, emphasizing the initiative’s broad impact. Volunteers will continue cooking for 30 days, ensuring those in need have Iftar and supper throughout the holy month.
