The German Embassy in Islamabad has officially handed over PKR 3.2 million raised from its 2023 German Christmas Charity Market to several Pakistani charitable organizations. This amount represents a significant increase from the previous year’s contributions, reflecting the growing success of the annual event.

German Ambassador Alfred Grannas, accompanied by embassy representatives, met with beneficiary organizations including Aaghosh Mera Ghar, Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital, and Al-Firdous Welfare Association to present the donations. During these meetings, the organizations outlined their plans for utilizing the funds to support various charitable causes and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the embassy’s continued support.

Ambassador Grannas commended the impactful work of these organizations, stating, “I am delighted to learn that our proceeds are being directed towards exceptional projects that are creating a positive difference in society.”

The 2023 German Christmas Charity Market, held at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad, attracted approximately 700 guests from around 50 countries. The event featured authentic German cuisine, handcrafted gifts, and festive entertainment, including performances by children’s choirs and an appearance by the German Santa Claus, known as “Weihnachtsmann.” The market not only celebrated German holiday traditions but also fostered cultural exchange and goodwill between Germany and Pakistan.

The success of the 2023 market underscores the embassy’s commitment to supporting local communities and promoting the spirit of giving during the holiday season.
