Defending champions Islamabad United delivered a powerful performance in the ongoing HBL PSL 10, defeating Multan Sultans by 47 runs in a high-octane clash at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The star of the match was West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder, whose explosive batting and lethal bowling sealed the deal for United.

Holder’s Heroics Lead United to Victory

Holder remained not out at 32 off just 14 balls, smashing 3 fours and 2 sixes to push United to a strong total of 202/6. Later, he wreaked havoc with the ball, grabbing 4 wickets for just 25 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award.

United’s Balanced Batting Display

After being put to bat by Multan, Islamabad United got off to a steady start with Sahibzada Farhan scoring 53 off 35 balls, supported by Colin Munro’s 48 off 29. Though United lost quick wickets in the middle overs, Haider Ali (33 off 21) and Holder ensured a strong finish.

Multan’s Chase Falls Short

Chasing 203, Multan Sultans faltered despite a promising partnership between Mohammad Rizwan (38) and Usman Khan (31). Wickets fell at regular intervals, and despite a late surge from Iftikhar Ahmed (32), the Sultans were bowled out for 155 in 18.4 overs.

PSL Head-to-Head Update

This match marked the 17th encounter between these two sides in PSL history. Islamabad now leads with 9 wins, while Multan has won 8 matches.

What’s Next for Multan Sultans?

This was Multan’s second loss in the tournament. Their next challenge is against Peshawar Zalmi on April 19—a team they’ve historically dominated, winning 11 of 16 encounters.
