Baby Sea Turtles Released in Lebanon

Environmentalists and volunteers gathered at Mansouri beach in southern Lebanon to release newly hatched baby sea turtles into the Mediterranean Sea. This inspiring conservation effort, led by the Turtle Launch Initiative, is aimed at protecting endangered sea turtle species and preserving their natural habitat. Despite challenges like delayed hatching due to cooler temperatures and rising environmental threats such as pollution and illegal fishing, the team has successfully protected over 60 nests this season. Southern Lebanon’s beaches remain a critical nesting site, and ongoing efforts by the Lebanese Ministry of Environment and international organisations are vital for ensuring the survival of these vulnerable marine creatures.
