A dramatic robbery has rocked the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris, as thieves made off with priceless royal jewellery from the Apollo Gallery — home to Napoleon’s crown jewels. Mayor Ariel Weil compared the heist to the infamous 1911 theft of the Mona Lisa, calling it the Louvre’s most serious robbery in over a century. Police and forensic teams swarmed the museum after the daring daylight break-in, where a crane and shattered window revealed the criminals’ meticulous plan. Witnesses described the evacuation as tense but well-organised, as heavily armed guards rushed to secure the museum. Authorities confirmed that nine historic pieces were taken, with one later found damaged outside the site.
