Dozens of Syrians gathered around a huge communal iftar table in the al-Qaboun neighborhood of Damascus, marking the end of their daylight Ramadan fast amidst the rubble of homes destroyed by the civil war.
The event was one of many organized by charities seeking to bring relief to the suffering of Syrians during the holy month of Ramadan. Footage shows a long table outside a mosque surrounded by rubble and ruined buildings. Volunteers and locals can be seen preparing the iftar table before breaking their fast.
