As Ramadan unfolds, thousands of Muslims in Dhaka are rushing to the historic Chawkbazar market to buy traditional iftar meals, a culinary heritage dating back 400 years.

Footage Captures the bustling market, where vendors offer beloved dishes like haleem, biryani, peyaji, and jilapi. The air is alive with sizzling food, lively haggling, and the aroma of deep-fried delights.

“This market has been here since the Mughal period. You won’t find these unique dishes anywhere else,” said Mohammad Salim, a local resident. Vendor Mohammad Titu added, “People come for our famous iftar, especially the legendary Chawkbazar haleem.”

Recognized by UNESCO as part of intangible cultural heritage in 2023, iftar remains a cherished tradition in Dhaka, with Chawkbazar at its heart.
