Thousands of Muslims came together at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa on Sunday to break their fast in a grand public iftar event. Now in its fifth year, the gathering has become a symbol of unity and equality for Ethiopia’s Muslim community.
Footage shows men, women, and children arriving at the event, sharing meals at sunset, and later performing Taraweeh prayers. “The celebration is very nice. It makes us feel equal and connected,” said Mehadi Sulyman, one of the attendees. Another participant, Miraj Merkeno, expressed joy, saying, “We all come together in love, and that makes me very happy.”
Organized by the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Council, the event aims to promote unity, love, and respect. As Ramadan nears its end, Muslims around the world prepare for Eid al-Fitr, marking a time of joy and social gatherings.
