Couples from across the Philippines gathered on Jolo Island, Sulu, to renew their vows in a special ‘Marriage Booster’ event held during Ramadan. The ceremony, aimed at strengthening love and commitment, saw participants walking down the aisle and exchanging vows in both traditional and military attire.
Major General Leonardo Peña, the event’s organizer, emphasized the significance of renewing marriage vows during the holy month, calling life partners a “God-given gift.” His wife, Neri Peña, reflected on their 32-year marriage, saying heartfelt vows should come from deep within.
The event, the first of its kind in Sulu, also featured a beach walk and Iftar gathering, allowing couples to reconnect and celebrate their faith. Soldier Khadija Sahipa highlighted the importance of Ramadan for Muslim couples, cherishing the time spent preparing and breaking fast together. According to local reports, the event brought together dozens of military and civilian couples, marking a meaningful occasion of love, faith, and togetherness.
