Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi praised Russia for removing his country from its list of banned organisations and officially recognising the Afghan government. Speaking at the Moscow Format meeting alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Muttaqi called the decision a “historic milestone” that will strengthen Afghanistan’s integration into the global community. The two ministers discussed cooperation in trade, counterterrorism, and regional stability. This marks the first time the Afghan delegation has participated in the Moscow Format since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
