Economic globalization stands as a crucial safeguard against the growing risk of global fragmentation, asserted Wang Huiyao, the esteemed founder and president of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG). Speaking at the 18th Bled Strategic Forum (BSF), Wang emphasized the need for a unified structure to navigate the increasingly multipolar world. In this article, we explore Wang’s insights, highlighting the benefits of globalization and his call for Central European unity in promoting global stability.

Globalization’s Role in Unity

Wang Huiyao, a prominent figure in international think tanks, addressed the participants of the BSF, underscoring the vital role economic globalization plays in preventing global disintegration. As the world grapples with challenges that threaten to fragment societies, Wang emphasized the importance of a structured approach to maintain unity in a multipolar landscape.

Benefits of 75 Years of Globalization

Over the past 75 years, globalization has emerged as a catalyst for widespread benefits. Wang acknowledged the role of key institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in driving global development. These institutions, alongside stalwarts like the World Bank, have contributed to fostering cooperation and shared progress among nations.

BSF: A Confluence of Global Minds

The 18th Bled Strategic Forum, themed “Solidarity for Global Security,” serves as a gathering of influential figures from diverse domains such as politics, business, think tanks, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international organizations. This annual event, established in 2006, has evolved into a premier international conference in Central and South-Eastern Europe, fostering dialogues on critical global issues.

Central European Unity for Global Peace

Wang’s call for Central European leaders to unite and project a strong global voice holds significance in the pursuit of global stability. He urged these nations to align their efforts and viewpoints to establish a consensus on peace and stability promotion. The aspiration is to establish a unified front that resonates on the global stage, influencing decisions and fostering harmonious coexistence.

The Role of the CCG

As the founder of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), Wang Huiyao leads a prominent Chinese non-governmental think tank. With its base in Beijing, the CCG stands as a significant contributor to shaping global thought leadership. In recognition of its impact, the University of Pennsylvania’s 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index (GGTTI) ranks CCG as the 64th among think tanks worldwide.

Conclusion

Wang Huiyao’s perspective at the 18th Bled Strategic Forum emphasizes the critical role of economic globalization in maintaining global cohesion. In an era threatened by fragmentation, institutions and united efforts play an indispensable part in preserving peace, stability, and prosperity. The call for Central European leaders to unite amplifies the message of unity, aiming to forge a collective front that promotes global security and solidarity.
