The World Bank organized the research on the effects of the solid waste on mountains areas in south Asian countries including Pakistan, India and Nepal with the funds of Korea Green Growth Trust Fund.
The latest research named “Pakistan: Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Mountain Areas” warned about environment damages in mountains region of Pakistan.
Pakistan is the only country in the world with the highest number of glaciers in the world.
The research highlights these unique areas where ecosystem are ideally perfect, but after the huge tourist visiting every years, damage local environment, which is reflects in terms of poverty by health issues and extreme weather’s situation in the area.

The Research has shown that compared to normal days, the amount of waste in the tourist season suddenly increases so much that its obvious effects are visible. According to researchers, collecting real data in high mountain areas is certainly a difficult task, so this research relies only on available information.
Researchers believe that there is no systematic waste collection system in these areas. Solid Waste that was many years old was also found in most areas and tourist destinations. The marketing of plastic wrappers and companies in the garbage was an important proof of its antiquity.
Pakistan is the only country in the world with the highest number of glaciers in the world. About 300 of them have become extinct in the last ten years due to the effects of climate change. Researchers believe that such horrific effects point to one of the reasons the environment is affected.
